From the moon’s crescent I can trace the outline of its totality

With every sunset, the quiet begs me to scream. And in this nightly apocalypse, I hold a silent devotion. I find forgiveness for the dark in knowing you have already found quiet within her cold invitation. I trace the curves of my own body, keeping myself at least half human with a touch I imagine is yours. I breathe, the structure of my rib cage crumbling like a falling city. I surrender to this dissolution and stitch myself together with a life I have yet to live. It’s dark, darling, and I fall asleep counting days.
